THE AIB Tappy Wristband Offers Families Quick, Simple & Secure Cashless Payments at Kaleidoscope 2019

Kaleidoscope have teamed up with AIB to offer an innovative cashless solution for festival goers - introducing the ‘AIB Tappy wristbands’, in partnership with Tappit.

Using the latest RFID (radio frequency identification) secure technology, there will be a limited run of 5,000 AIB Tappy wristbands made available for festival attendees and their children, who can choose to go cashless for the weekend.

While cash, card, and contactless payments will all still be accepted on-site, wearers of the AIB Tappy wristbands can simply tap their wristband at over 90 vendor points on site to pay for food, drink, entertainment and donations to a range of charity partners across the event.

There will be 3 convenient locations where customers can top up their AIB Tappy wristband on site at Kaleidoscope. But hurry! There’ll be just 5,000 AIB Tappy wristbands available for this festival weekend. Sign up on a first come, first served basis through this link here.

AIB is offering festival guests the chance to experience a cashless weekend at Kaleidoscope 2019 with the secure, simple AIB Tappy wristbands.

What is an AIB Tappy wristband?
The AIB Tappy wristband is a cashless wristband with an RFID chip inside that can act as your wallet at Kaleidoscope 2019 should you choose, allowing you and your family to make cashless purchases quickly without having to worry about carrying cash.

How does it work?
It’s super simple, easy peasy!

Adults over 18 can pre-load your AIB Tappy wristband with a chosen amount of funds (minimum €4) using either card, cash or contactless at the AIB Tappy Huts. Then you’re ready to use your AIB Tappy wristband to pay for food, drinks and entertainment at over 90 vendors across the Kaleidoscope festival.

Kids using AIB Tappy wristband must have an adult over 18 topping up their wristband for them. It’s a great way to show kids how to manage their money, on tap!

Your AIB Tappy wristband can be used to pay for food, drinks and merchandise within the gates of Kaleidoscope Festival.

After topping up, you simply tap your wristband against the AIB Tappy reader at each food, drinks, merchandise, activities or amusement vendor to purchase goods. Once the transaction is confirmed, the amount is automatically deducted from your wristband’s balance.

How do I sign up for an AIB Tappy wristband?
It’s as easy as one, two, Tappy!

Before arriving at the festival, adults over 18 years old can sign up here with their name, email and phone number. Please note, all contact details supplied must be those of a parent / guardian over 18 years old.

OR

Adults over 18 can sign up in person on arrival at one of the three AIB Tappy Huts on site.

AIB Tappy Huts are open on-site Friday - Sunday, 8am - 12 midnight.

Once on-site, adults can collect their AIB Tappy wristband at the AIB Tappy Huts, which are located at the main festival gate. Please note, if you have pre-ordered an AIB Tappy wristband, you will need to have photo ID with you to collect your AIB Tappy wristband. Wristbands are subject to availability!

I'm a parent registering for an AIB Tappy wristband. Should I register each wristband for my family members individually?

Yes, every AIB Tappy wristband needs to be registered to each individual wearer's name separately. It's very quick and easy to register - just follow through this link here.

How and where do I top up my AIB Tappy Wristband?
You can top up your AIB Tappy wristband at the AIB Tappy Huts by paying with card or cash or contactless at any point over the festival weekend.

You can then use it to pay throughout the festival at any AIB Tappy vendor. There are 90 on site, so you can tap, tap, Tappy away. Do I have to use or wear the AIB Tappy wristband at Kaleidoscope Festival 2019?
No. AIB Tappy wristbands are optional. You can also use cash, card or contactless to pay throughout Kaleidoscope Festival to make purchases.

What happens if I run out of funds?
Don’t worry. If you run out, you can top up as many times as you’d like at the AIB Tappy Huts. There are no associated charges with topping up your AIB Tappy wristband. The AIB Tappy Huts will be open Friday to Sunday, 8am-12 midnight.

Has this been done before?
Yes, but not in Ireland! Other festivals around the world have run totally cashless events. The success of these and the great feedback from international festival goers encouraged AIB to launch the pilot Irish programme for festival wristband payments at Kaleidoscope this year. However, the AIB Tappy wristband isn’t replacing cash, card or contactless payments for Kaleidoscope 2019, it’s just offering more options for our customers on how they can choose to manage their money.

What if I break my AIB Tappy wristband?
The AIB Tappy wristband is very secure, so it would be tough to lose and even tougher to break. But in the unlikely event that does happen, no problem! In the case of a wristband being broken, please keep it safe and take it straight to the AIB Tappy Huts where our team will help you transfer funds onto a new wristband (subject to availability).

What if I lose my AIB Tappy wristband?

  1. If you have pre-registered, staff at the AIB Tappy Huts will be able to freeze the funds on your AIB Tappy wristband and give you a new wristband. After the festival, you will be able to either transfer any frozen funds back into your bank account (please allow 5-7 working days for this) or donate them to the Kaleidoscope 2019 charity partners, Barretstown Children’s Charity and the ISPCC. Any funds not transferred back to your account by July 28th 2019 will automatically be donated to these charities.

  2. If you have not pre-registered your card, unfortunately we will not be able to freeze the funds. Therefore, it is important to pre-register through this link and to bring any broken wristbands straight to the AIB Tappy Huts.

How do I get any unused funds back?
Unused funds will be available to claim back from 9am on 1st July until midnight on 29th July 2019 by clicking here, entering your Unique Identification Code (which can be found on the back of your AIB Tappy wristband) and filling in your bank details. The funds will be back into your account within 5-7 working days. Any funds left on your wristband after this date will be automatically donated to the Kaleidoscope 2019 charity partners, Barretstown Children’s Charity and the ISPCC.

What will I do with my AIB Tappy wristband once I’m finished with it?
Hold on to it! If you are planning on cashing out remaining funds, you’ll need the Unique Identification Number on the AIB Tappy wristband. Unused funds will be available to claim back from 9am July 1st until midnight July 29th 2019 by clicking here, entering your Unique Identification Code (which can be found on the back of your AIB Tappy wristband) and filling in your bank details. The funds will be back into your account within 5-7 working days. Any funds left on your wristband after this date will be automatically donated to the Kaleidoscope 2019 charity partners, Barretstown Children’s Charity and the ISPCC. The wristbands include materials that are not yet recyclable, so please make sure to take them with you from the festival and either keep as a souvenir of Kaleidoscope or dispose of in a regular rubbish bin.

What will I do if my AIB Tappy Wristband stops working?
No problem! Just make your way to an AIB Tappy Huts where our trained Tappy Advisors will be here to help. You can also email aibtappy@kaleidoscopefestival.ie and we’ll be right with you as soon as possible.

Is the AIB Tappy wristband meant for children too?
It certainly is! If your kids are starting to learn about budgeting and how to be responsible with their money, this is a great way to give them the independence of managing their own funds for the weekend, knowing that there won’t be any tears over misplaced cash. The AIB Tappy wristband will track all of the purchases made throughout the wristband, so any questions you might have about what they’ve purchased can be answered by dropping to our on-site AIB Tappy Huts.
