BOOLA BOOM
Boolaboom are a super-sized brass and samba percussion big-band playing house and techno. A budding collaboration between a multicultural blend of international jazz musicians and samba drummers, the group launched in 2023 to make ‘unplugged house music’ heavily sprinkled with soul, jazz and South American flare.
BoolaBoom features a 12-piece horn section backed by 10 samba drummers producing a unique high-impact sound that hits you simultaneously in the chest and the soul.
French producer Art of Tones (aka Llorca) took a shine to the group and remixed their track ‘Summerhouse’ which was released in March 2024 with plenty radio plays including Craig Charles on BBC. The upbeat disco rework hit number 18 in the Traxsource Top 100 with EDM legends like Laurent Garnier, Glen Underground and mega-popular new wave DJs like Folamour declaring their love for it.
BoolaBoom’s original tracks feature catchy brass licks and scintillating brass solos alongside classic EDM-style percussion build-ups, air-punching beat-drops and catchy, irresistible samba-esque chants.
Their shows at Electric Picnic and All Together Now in 2024 went down a storm with both festivals rebooking the group again for 2025. BoolaBoom will also play the mainstage at Kaleidoscope Festival in Wicklow which attracts 25,000 music fans every year.
BoolaBoom’s latest release ‘Shuffle’ is an EDM and bluesy big-band belter that combines catchy horn licks with high tempo samba-house. Along with a surprise samba-style percussion call-and-response, the Shuffle’s special sauce is an irresistible hands-in-the-air ‘cup final’ vocal chant that begins acapella and builds into a raucous jazzy finale when the beat drops.
