Festival Flags workshop with artist Edel Campbell Suitable for children of all ages. This workshop invites participants to consider the differences between the kind of decorations used in the painted scene and those used around the festival today. For this workshop we will be focusing on the idea of creating flags. Flags can be decorative but they can also symbolise nationhood or communities, they can celebrate individuality and they can tell stories. Those taking part in the workshop will have the opportunity to create a festival flag of their own using torn paper collage and oil pastels.

They can create imagery by using ideas/objects depicted in the painting or taking inspiration from their own experience of the Kaleidoscope festival. The flags can take the form of bunting triangles or they can be as individual as each person taking part, the more colourful and imaginative the better.
